    Sri Vedanta-rahasya ---  The Secrets of Vedanta    Text 1 sri-gaurasundara-krpalu-varajaya yah samsara-loka-janatam krpayaiva vakte sri-gaurasundara-krpa-kathanam sukhena tasmai nato 'smi satatam prabhupada-namne   sri-gaurasundara - of Lord Caitanya; krpalu - merciful;  varajaya - by the order; yah - who; samsara - in the material  world;  loka-janatam - to the people; krpaya - with mercy; eva - indeed;  vakte’spoke; sri-gaurasundara-krpa - of Lord Caitanya's mercy;  kathanam - the news; sukhena - happily; tasmai - to him; nato 'smi - I bou  down; satatam - always; prabhupada-namne - named Prabhupada.     I offer my respectful obeisances to His Divine Grace A C  Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada who on Lord Caitanya's order,  repeated the news of the Lord's mercy to the people of this  world.     Text 2 sri-krsna eva bhagavan api yo hi devah srastum sukhena hari-kirtana-giti-vrttim prthvi-talam karunayavatatara tasmai sri-gaurasundara-varaya nato 'smi saukhyat   sri-krsnah - Sri Krsna; eva - indeed; bhagavan - the Supreme  Personality of Godhead; api - indeed; yah - who; hi - indeed; devah - the  Lord; srastum - to create;  sukhena - hapily; hari-kirtana-giti-vrttim - the singing of Lord  Krs„na's names; prthvi-talam - the surface of the earth;  karunaya - mercifully; avatatara - descended; tasmai - to Him; sri- gaurasundara-varaya’Lord Caitanya; nato 'smi - I bou down;  saukhyat - happily.     I offer my respectful obeisances to Lord Caitanya who is  the Supreme Personality of Godhead Lord Krsna Himself and who  to create the Krsna-sankirtana movement mercifully descended  to this world.     Text 3 vrndatavi-vara-nikuja-vinodanabhyam divyal-lasan-nayana-phullita-pankajabhyam sadbhyam nato 'smi karunamaya-vigrahabhyam sri-radhika-vraja-puresvara-nandanabhyam   vrndatavi-vara-nikuja - in the groves of Vrndavana  forest; vinodanabhyam - enjoying pastimes; divyal-lasan- nayana - glistening eyes; phullita - blossoming;  pankajabhyam - lotus flowers; sadbhyam - transcendental; nato  'smi - I bou down;  karunamaya - of mercy; vigrahabhyam - forms; sri-radhika - Sri  Radha; vraja-puresvara- nandanabhyam - and the prince of Vraja.     I offer my respectful obeisances to Sri Sri Radha‘-Krsna who  enjoy pastimes in the groves of Vrndavana forest whose playful  glistening eyes are lotus flowers who are eternal and  transcendental and who are mercy personified.     Text 4 vande vrsarka-tanayam kusumavatamsam vande vrajesa-tanayam madhuram mudeti sari-suka-stutim idam vraja-kuje-vrnde srosyami kim paricaran su-sukhena divyam   vande - I bou down; vrsarka-tanayam - to Sri Radha;  kusumavatamsam - garlanded with flowers; vande - I bou down;  vrajesa-tanayam - to the prince of Vraja; madhuram - charming;  muda - happily; iti - thus; sari-suka-stutim - the parrots§  prayers; idam - this;  vraja-kuje-vrnde - in the forest of Vraja; srosyami - I will  hear; kim - whether?; paricaran - wandering; su-sukhena - happily;  divyam - splendid.     As I wander in the forests of Vraja will I some day hear  the parrots gracefully praying I offer my respectful  obeisances to Vrsabhanu's daughter who is decorated with  flowers I happily offer my respectful obeisances to Nanda's  charming and handsome son."?     Text 5 sri-radhike jaya vilasini krsna-kante sri-krsnacandra jaya madhava radhikesta ity uktam eva madhuram vacanam nikuje srosyami kim lasita-sari-sukesvarabhyam   sri-radhike - O Sri Radha; jaya - glory; vilasini - playful;  krsna-kante’beloved of Krsna; sri- krsnacandra - O Sri Krsna; jaya - glory; madhava - O Madhava;  radhikesta’beloved of Radha; ity - thus; uktam - said; eva - indeed;  madhuram - charming; vacanam - words; nikuje - in the forest;  srosyami’I will hear; kim - whether?; lasita-sari- sukesvarabhyam - the splendid parrots.     In the forests of Vraja will I some day hear the playful  kings of parrots saying Glory to Krsna's beloved  playful and glorious Sri Radha¡ Glory to Sri Radha's beloved  handsome Sri Krsnacandra!"?     Text 6 tasmin vane kusumite lasatista-devo sri-radhaya saha sukham madhuram mukundah ity uktim eva kathayisyati kim kadaiva drstyaikaya lasitaya harinesvaro mam   tasmin - in this; vane - forest; kusumite - flower-filled;  lasati - enjoys pastimes; ista-devah - the Lord; sri- radhaya - Radha‘; saha - with;  sukham - happily; madhuram - sweetly; mukundah - Krsna; ity - thus;  uktim - uords; eva - indeed; kathayisyati - will say; kim - whether?;  kada - when?; eva - indeed; drstya - glance; ekaya - with one;  lasitaya’glistening; harina - of deer; isvarah - the king; mam - to me.     When with a single glistening glance will the king of deer  inform me In this flower-filled forest glorious Lord  Krsna enjoys charming pastimes with Sri Radha."     Text 7 kim varsabhanavi-vrajesasutabhisara- sthanam vrajatavi-vare harini sa-kantam deksyaty aho vilasita su-sukhena langhanty aujjvalya-puram atulam kusumali-sobham   kim - whether?; varsabhanavi-vrajesasuta - of Sri Sri  Radha-Krsna; abhisara - meeting; sthanam - place;  vrajatavi-vare - in Vrndavana forest; harini - a doe; sa- kantam - with her beloved; deksyaty - will see; ahah - aha;  vilasita - glistening; su- sukhena - very happily; langhanty - leaping; aujjvalya-puram - flood of  splendor; atulam - peerless; kusumali-sobham - splendid with flowers.     Some day will a graceful doe and stag leaping and playing shou  me the splendid flower-filled grove where Sri Radha‘ and Krsna  secretly meet?     Text 8 sri-yamune jala-vare su-sukham sapharyah sri-radhika-giribhrtoh sukha-drsti-vrndam kridabhir eva satatam su-mudanukurvanty adyeti kim manasi cintanam evam astu   sri-yamune - in the Yamuna; jala-vare - water; su- sukham - happily; sapharyah - saphari fish; sri- radhika-giribhrtoh - of Sri Sri Radha‘-Krsna; sukha-drsti- vrndam’happy glances; kridabhih - playing; eva - indeed;  satatam - always; su-muda - happily; anukurvanty - imitating;  adya - now; iti - thus; kim - whether?; manasi - in the heart;  cintanam - thought; evam - thus;  astu - may be.     Will I think These saphari fish playfully  swimming to and fro in the Yamuna‘ must be imitating the playful  glances of Sri Sri Radha‘-Krsna."?     Text 9 vrndavane ravisuta-tata-kuja-raje sri-radhika-giribhrtor avilokanena baspakuleksana-yugah satatam lapisyamy artah kadakulita-citta upasako 'ham   vrndavane - in Vrndavana; ravisuta-tata-kuja-raje - in the  regal forest by the Yamuna's shore; sri-radhika- giribhrtoh - of Sri Sri Radha‘-Krsna; avilokanena - because of not  having the sight; baspa - with tears; akula - filled;  iksana - eyes; yugah - both; satatam - always;  lapisyamy - I will,lament; artah - distressed; kada - when?;  akulita - agitated; citta - heart; upasakah - worshipper; aham - I.     When sitting in a splendid and regal secluded forest grove  by the Yamuna's shore will I my eyes filled with tears weep  inconsolable that I cannot see Sri Sri Radha‘-Krsna?     Text 10 divye bhraman ravisuta-tata-phulla-kuje sri-radhika-vraja-puresa-sutanghri-cihnam pasyan su-mangalam aho madhuram natisyamy ananda-purita-manah satatam kada kim   divye - splendid; bhraman - wandering; ravisuta-tata - by the  Yamuna's shore; phulla - blossoming; kuje - in the grove; sri-radhika- vraja-puresa-suta - of Sri Sri Radha‘-Krsna; anghri- cihnam - footprints; pasyan - seeing; su-mangalam - aispicious;  ahah - aha¡;  madhuram - sweet; natisyamy - I will dance; ananda-purita- manah’my heart flooded with bliss; satatam - always; kada - when?;  kim - whether?     When wandering in the flower-filled forest by the Yamuna's  shore and finding Sri Sri Radha‘-Krsna's charming and auspicious  footprints will I dance my heart filled with happiness?     Text 11 kutrasti nanda-tanayo nayanaravindah kutrasti prana-patir eva hi kutra krsnah sarvasvam asti ha ha kutra ha kutra kutrety uktir natisyati mukhe mama kim kada kim kutra - where?; asti - is; nanda-tanayah - Krsna;  nayanaravindah - lotus eyed; kutra - where; asti - is; prana-patih - the  master of my life; eva - indeed; hi - indeed; kutra - where?;  krsnah - Krsna; asti - is; ha - O; ha - O; kutra - where?; ha - O;  kutra - where?; kutra - where?; ity - thus; uktih - statrement;  natisyati - will dance; mukhe - in the mouth; mama - of me;  kim - whether¿; kada - when?; kim - whether?       Where is lotus-eyed Krsna?¢ Where is the  Lord of my life?¢ Where has my only treasure gone?¢ When  will these words dance on my tongue?     Text 12 vrndavane kusumite vara-sundarangau dola-vilasa-sukhitau parihasa-divyau sri-radhika-vrajapuresvara-nandanau kim draksyamy aham mama su-netra-yugena bhaktya   vrndavane - in Vrndavana; kusumite - flower filled; vara- sundarangau’beautiful; dola-vilasa - swing pastimes;  sukhitau - happy; parihasa-divyau - joking and laughing; sri-radhika-vrajapuresvara- nandanau - Sri Sri Radha‘-Krsna; kim - whethrr?; draksyamy - will  see; aham - I; mama - of me; su-netra-yugena - with the eyes;  bhaktya - with devotion.     Some day with my own eyes will I see beautiful Sri Sri  Radha‘-Krsna smiling joking and happily enjoying pastimes on a  swing in flower-filled Vrndavana forest?     Text 13 sri-varsabhanavi-vrajesa-sutau surangau trailokya-sundara-varau vilasad-vilokau ananditam nata-mukham su-sukhena drstva smeram mano mama hasisyati kim kadaiva   sri-varsabhanavi-vrajesa-sutau - Sri Sri Radha‘-Krsna;  surangau’beautiful and handsome; trailokya - three worlds;  sundara-varau - most beautiful; vilasad-vilokau - glistening eyes;  ananditam - delighted; nata-mukham - bowed head; su-sukhena - happily;  drstva - seeing; smeram - smiling; manah - heart; mama - of me;  hasisyati’will smile and laugh; kim - whether?; kada - when?; eva - indeed.     When will my happy and humble heart smile and laugh as it  gazes on Sri Sri Radha‘-Krsna whose eyes glisten with  playfulness whose limbs are glorious and who are more handsome and  beautiful than anything in the three worlds?     Text 14 vrndavane madhura-kavya-sunarma-vanih sri-sri-vrsarka-tanaya-vraja-nanda-sunvoh srutva sukhena paramah paramam lasantih smeram mano mama natisyati kim kadaiva   vrndavane - in Vrndavana; madhura - sweet; kavya - poetry;  sunarma - jokes; vanih - words; sri-sri- vrsarka-tanaya-vraja-nanda-sunvoh - of Sri Sri Radha‘-Krsna;  srutva’hearing; sukhena - happily;  paramah - great; paramam - great; lasantih - glistneing;  smeram - smiling; manah - heart; mama - of me; natisyati - will dance;  kim - whether?;  kada - when?; eva - indeed.     When hearing Sri Sri Radha‘ and Krsna's charming sweet  splendid and poetic jokes in Vrndavana forest will my smiling  heart dance with happiness?     Text 15 sri-sri-vrsarka-tanaya-vraja-nanda-sunu divyanginau parama-sundarata-lasantau kim stambhitam sukha-vicitra-varena nityam sampujayisyati kada mama netra-yugmam   sri-sri-vrsarka-tanaya-vraja-nanda-sunu - Sri Sri  Ra‘dha-Krsna;  divya - splendid; anginau - limbs; parama-sundarata - great beauty;  lasantau - glistening; kim - whether?; stambhitam - stunned; sukha- vicitra-varena - with great wonder; nityam - always;  sampujayisyati’will worship; kada - when?; mama - my; netra- yugmam - eyes.     When will my eyes stunned with wonder worship the  splendidly beautiful and handsome forms of Sri Sri Radha‘-Krsna  standing before them?     Text 16 vrndavane vilasite sumanamsi divye kuje vane parimalani mad-isvaraya sri-nanda-raja-tanayaya sa-radhikaya kim cesyato mama sukhena varena pani   vrndavane - in Vrndavana; vilasite - splendid;  sumanamsi - sumanah flowers; divye - splendid; kuje - in the grove;  vane’in the forest;  parimalani - fragrant; mad-isvaraya - to my master; sri-nanda- raja-tanayaya’Krsna; sa- radhikaya - with Radha; kim - whether?; cesyatah - will pick; mama - my;  sukhena’with happiness; varena - great; pani - hands.     When in splendid Vrndavana forest will my hands picë many  fragrant sumanah flowers to make garlands for Sri Sri Radha‘- Krsna the two controllers of my life?     Text 17 sri-nanda-raja-tanayaya sa-radhikaya vrndavane kusumite madhura lasanti man-manasesvara-varaya sukhi sa-vina rocisyate sa-kavita mama gitika kim   sri-nanda-raja-tanayaya - to the son of Nanda; sa- radhikaya’with Radha; vrndavane - in Vrndavana;  kusumite - flower filled; madhura - sweet; lasanti - glistening; man- manasesvara-varaya’to the master of my heart; sukhi - happy; sa- vina - with the vina; rocisyate - will please; sa-kavita - with  poetry; mama - of me; gitika - sings; kim - whether?     When in flower-filled Vrndavana forest will my sweet  songs poems and vina‘ music please Sri Sri Radha‘-Krsna the two  masters of my heart?     Text 18 cari sukhi rahasi kesava-presita kim vrndavane sukha-natan-nayanam nikuje guptam su-madhavi-latasu vilasa-cittam sri-radhikam smita-mukhim avalokayisye   cari - spy; sukhi - happy; rahasi - in a secluded place; kesava- presita’sent by Krsna; kim - whether; vrndavane - in Vrndavana;  sukha-natan-nayanam - dancing eyes; nikuje - in the grove;  guptam - hidden; su-madhavi-latasu - among the madhavi vines;  vilasa-cittam - playful heart; sri-radhikam - to Sri Radha;  smita-mukhim’smiling; avalokayisye - I will see.     When will I nou become Krsna's spy discover where smiling Sri  Radha her heart playful and Her eyes dancing with happiness is  hiding in Vrndavana forest?     Text 19 purve dine rahasi yatra vilasa-devi sri-radhika vihasato vraja-raja-sunoh guptabhavad ravisuta-nalinatavim kim smesye pradrsya sukhita vara-manda-hasya   purve - previous; dine - in the day; rahasi - in a secluded place;  yatra - where; vilasa-devi - playful goddess; sri-radhika - Sri  Radha‘;  vihasatah - laughing; vraja-raja-sunoh - of Krsna; gupta - hidden;  abhavat - became; ravisuta - in the Yamuna;  nalina - of lotus flowers; atavim - in the forest; kim - whether?;  smesye’I wil smile; pradrsya - seeing; sukhita - happy; vara-manda- hasya - with a gentle smile.     When will I happily smile to see the lotus forest in the  Yamuna‘ where yesterday Sri Radha glorious and playful hid from  laughing Lord Krsna?     Text 22 sankirtito vraja-puresa-sutah puranaih krsnasya pada-kamalam pranamanti vedah ity uktim eva hi sukasya su-mangalasya srosyami kim vraja-vane sukhita caranti   sankirtitah - glorified; vraja-puresa-sutah - Krsna;  puranaih’by the Puranas; krsnasya - of Krsna;  pada-kamalam - lotus feet; pranamanti - bou down; vedah - the Vedas;  ity - thus; uktim - statement; eva - indeed; hi - indeed; sukasya - of a parrot; su- mangalasya - auspicious; srosyami - I will hear; kim - whether?;  vraja-vane’in the forest of Vraja; sukhita - happy; caranti - walking.     When walking in the forests of Vraja will I hear a  glorious male parrot say Krsna is glorified in by all  Puranas The personified Vedas humbly bou down before His feet"?     Texts 23-24 sri-radhikam rahasi bhusayamanam eva sri-nandanandanam apasyam ananta-viryam padmadi-puspa-paramaih vara-padmaragair vrndavane su-madhure rati-lasi-netram   sri-radhika-vapur-alankaranaya krsna- sankirtayah sumadhurah susukha bhavanti ity uktim eva madhuram smita-divya-sareh srosyami kim vraja-vane sukhita caranti   sri-radhikam - Sri Radha; rahasi - in a secluded place;  bhusayamanam’decorating; eva - indeed; sri- nandanandanam - Sri Krsna; apasyam - I saw; ananta-viryam - unlimitedly  powerful; padmadi-puspa-paramaih - with lotuses and other  flowers;  vara-padmaragaih - with rubies; vrndavane - in Vrndavana; su- madhure’sweet; rati-lasi-netram - eyes glistenign with love;.sri- radhika - of Sri Radha; vapuh - the form; alankaranaya - for  decoration; krsna - of Krsna; sankirtayah - the glories;  sumadhurah - sweet; susukha - hapoy; bhavanti - are; ity - thus;  uktim - words; eva - indeed; madhuram - sweet; smita - smiling;  divya - splendid; sareh - of the female parrot; srosyami - I will  hear; kim - whether?; vraja-vane - in the forest of Vraja;  sukhita - happy; caranti - walking.     When happily walking in the forests of Vraja will I hear a  smiling female parrot sweetly say The glories of Krsna  are meant as decorations for Sri Radha In a secluded place in  charming Vrndavana forest I have personally seen Krsna His eyes  glistening with love decorate Radha‘ with many rubies lotus  flowers and other ornaments Therefore Krsna is Sri Radha's  servant."?     Text 25 krsnah svayam hi bhagavan muni-vrnda-kirtyo brahmadi-deva-paripujita-pada-padmah laksmi-patir bhuvana-rad iti sac-chukoktim srosyamy aham kusumite vraja-kanane kim   krsnah - Krsna; svayam - personally; hi - indeed; bhagavan - the  Supreme Personality of Godhead; muni-vrnda-kirtyah - glorified by  the sages;  brahmadi-deva - by the demigods headed by Brahma;  paripujita - worshiped; pada-padmah - lotus feet; laksmi- patih - the husband of Laksmi; bhuvana - of the worlds;  rat - the king; iti - thus; sat - transcendental; suka - of the male  parrot; uktim - the words; srosyamy - will hear; aham - I;  kusumite - flower filled; vraja - of Vraja;  kanane - in the forest; kim - whether?     Some day in the flower-filled forests of Vraja will I hear  a male parrot say Sri Krsna is the Supreme Personality  of Godhead He is the husband of the goddess of fortune and the  king of all the worlds The great sages chant His glories Brahma‘  and the demigods worship His lotus feet."?     Text 26 pasparsa krsna idam eva jalam ha heti matva su-sitala-jalam yamuna-vahantam pitva ca krsna jaya krsna jayeti gitva nartsyami kim vraja-vane sukhitantaratma   pasparsa - touched; krsna - Krsna; idam - this; eva - indeed;  jalam - water; ha - O; ha - O; iti - thus;  matva - thinking; su- sitala - cool; jalam - water; yamuna-vahantam - flowing in the  Yamuna; pitva - drinking; ca - and; krsna - Krsna; jaya - glory;  krsna - Krsna; jaya - glory; iti - thus; gitva - singing;  nartsyami - I will dance; kim - whether?; vraja-vane - in the forest of  Öraja;  sukhita - happy; antaratma - at heart.     Some day drinking the cool water flowing in the Yamuna  and thinking Lord Krsna touched this water" will I  sing Jaya Krsna¡ Jaya Krsna!¢ and with a happy heart  dance in the forest of Vraja?     Text 27 kutraravinda-caranasya su-mangalasya cihnani nanda-tanayasya ha heti matva sri-gokule vana-vare sukhito vrajisyamy antah kada kusala-bhumi-talam pradrsya   kutra - where; aravinda-caranasya - lotus feet; su- mangalasya - auspicious; cihnani - marks; nanda- tanayasya - of Krsna; ha - O; ha - O; iti - thus; matva - thinking; sri- gokule’in Gokula; vana-vare - in the forest; sukhitah - happy;  vrajisyamy - I will wealk; antah - within; kada - when?; kusala- bhumi-talam - auspicious ground; pradrsya - seeing.     When thinking Where are Lord Krsna's auspicious  footprints?" and carefully inspecting the sacred ground will I  happily walë in Gokula's forests?     Text 28 sri-nanda-raja-tanayasya manoharasya brahmadi-mohana-karim murali-sugitim samsrutya gokula-vane madhure caran kim samstambhitah su-sukhitah paramam bhavisye   sri-nanda-raja-tanayasya - of Krsna; manoharasya - charming;  brahmadi - the demigods headed by Brahma; mohana- karim - bewildering; murali-sugitim - the music of the flute;  samsrutya - hearing; gokula-vane - in ther forest of Gokula;  madhure - sueet; caran - walking;  kim - whether?; samstambhitah - stunned; su-sukhitah - blissful;  paramam - greatly; bhavisye - I will be.     Some day walking in Gokula's forests and suddenly hearing the  sweet music of Lord Krsna's flute music that charms and  bewilders Brahma‘ and all the demigods will I become stunned with  happiness?     Text 29 divyam kada vraja-vane ha ha radhikaya dhammillam ullasitalocana-pankajayah kuje nibaddhya ha ha sayam alankarisyamy antah-sukhi parimalaih sphuta-malli-vrndaih   divyam - splendid; kada - when?; vraja-vane - in the forest of  Vraêa; ha - O; ha - O; radhikaya - of Radha; dhammillam - the braids;  ullasita-locana-pankajayah - glistening lotus eyes; kuje - in  the forest; nibaddhya - tying; ha - O; ha - O; sayam - at sunset;  alankarisyamy - I will decorate; antah-sukhi - happy at heart;  parimalaih’with fragrant; sphuta-malli- vrndaih - blossomed jasmine flowers.     When in the forest of Vraja as the afternoon grows late  will I nou become Her maidservant comâ glistening lotus-eyed  Sri Radha's graceful hair braid it and decorate it with  fragrant jasmine flowers? O son of Nanda, the object of My worship (isti) is You." I mean What is Your desire (kama)?" You are more glorious than ten million Kamadevas." I mean What is Your desire (manoratha)?" I drive the chariot (ratha) of my heart (mano) so I  will meet You and bou down before Your lotus feet." I mean What is Your desire (akanksa)?" The meaning of My words (akanksa) is I love You."     Note In this and some following verses playful Sri Radha‘  deliberately misunderstands Lord Krsna's words For example here  the word isti¢ may mean either desire¢ or  worship" Lord Krsna intends the first meaning but Sri  Radha‘ gives a reply that accepts the second meaning. My every limâ is flooded with light (Kanti) because  You are the sun shining in the sky of My heart." I mean Why is it that You are so very beautiful  (manoja)?"
